ENVIRAL® Austria

As already reported here on several occasions, ENVIRAL® has been conducting a long-term study on the Ottensheim Danube ferry since September 9, 2012. Please also see our articles dated November 2, 2012 and March 17, 2013 on this topic.

The test sheets mounted on the ferry's hull were last examined on April 26, 2013. At that time it was noted that the powder paint flaking discovered on one of the edges of a sheet on March 2, 2013 which had been most likely caused by ice floes had not expanded and was not showing any signs of corrosion either (cf. Fig 1). Some minor corrosion, however, had occurred on the lower corners of another sheet (cf. Fig. 2).

Furthermore, it must be said that all test sheets have been extensively covered by caddis fly larvae (cf. Fig. 3) that can only be removed by the vigorous application of water and brushes.

We will continue keep you posted about the progress of this study and its latest results in our News.
